Every Wednesday and Saturday I teach art workshops on how to draw comics, color theory, coloring comics etc. My classes are held in the City of Industry, CA at a fun place called Frank and Son–A collectible show that’s basically a big warehouse turned into a mini convention of comics, toys, sports cards and more. Mat Nastos and I form the Comic Book Art Institute, and teach from booth 807.
Yesterday we had a special guest join us, Butch Patrick–who played Eddie Munster on the cult classic TV show form the 1960′s– the Munsters. We chatted a bit and then I whipped up a card for him in about 20 minutes. I colored the card in grayscale for an homage to the show which was in black and white.
I didn’t have a scanner, so I had to take a picture with my phone. It’s not the greatest quality but it gets the point across. He loved it and especially the fact that I added his Wolfie doll in there.
This is the absolute greatest feeling–when someone enjoys your artwork.
Thanks Butch!
